Exodus 25:8 gives the reason for the whole tabernacle project in one line: “let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” John opens his gospel with the same verb: the Word “became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14) — the Greek literally “tabernacled.”
