These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Berean Table at bereantable.com (the “Site”), operated by DeSoto Consulting LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, please don’t use the Site.
Accounts and House Rules
Some features — commenting in the forum, applying to write, subscribing as a Scribe — require an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure; you’re responsible for activity under your account. Creating an account requires you to accept our House Rules, which govern respectful conduct on the Site and are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
The forum
Our forum exists for honest, sourced discussion — cite your sources and be open to being challenged on them. We may hold, hide, or remove any post, and suspend or ban any account, at our sole discretion, for violating the House Rules or these Terms, including but not limited to harassment, spam, doxxing, or repeated bad-faith argument.
Scribe subscriptions
A Scribe seat is a recurring paid subscription, billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your Account page or Stripe’s customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and we do not provide partial refunds for unused time except where required by law. We may change Scribe pricing with reasonable advance notice to current subscribers.
Contributor content
If you’re an approved contributor, you retain ownership of what you write. By submitting an essay for publication, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to publish, distribute, and display it on the Site and in connection with promoting the Site (for example, on our social media or in our newsletter), for as long as it remains published. You’re responsible for making sure you have the right to use anything you submit — quotations, images, and citations included — and for the accuracy of what you write.
By applying to become a contributor and by submitting content, you release DeSoto Consulting LLC, The Berean Table, and our officers and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from your participation as a contributor — including your published content, your public contributor page, and any dispute arising from a reader’s response to your work. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising from what you submit, including claims of defamation, infringement, or inaccuracy. This does not limit whatever rights you may separately have against us for our own violation of these Terms.
The Fellowship Directory
The Fellowship Directory is a directory of independently organized small group gatherings, submitted by our members. We do not operate, supervise, background-check, or otherwise vet any listing, host, or gathering, and we do not guarantee the identity, safety, or suitability of any host or attendee.
Participation is entirely at your own discretion and risk. Before attending any gathering at a private home, we strongly encourage speaking with the host first and meeting in a public place, such as a coffee shop, before agreeing to visit a private residence.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Berean Table disclaims all liability for any interaction, meeting, injury, loss, or dispute arising from use of the Fellowship Directory. Hosts are solely responsible for the accuracy of what they publish. Using the Directory to harass a host or attendee, to misrepresent yourself, or to attempt to identify a host’s exact address is prohibited and may result in suspension or removal from the Website. We reserve the right to remove any listing at our discretion.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Site for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data; scrape or bulk-collect content or member information; impersonate another person; or interfere with the Site’s normal operation (including its security features, like Cloudflare Turnstile). We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of these Terms.
Content and intellectual property
Essays, keywords, and other original content on the Site are owned by their respective authors and by DeSoto Consulting LLC, and are protected by copyright. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link back to the Site; you may not republish, redistribute, or use our content to train a commercial AI model without our written permission.
Disclaimers
The Site, its content, and the views expressed by Sergio DeSoto and our contributors are provided for study and discussion, not as professional, medical, legal, or financial advice. The Site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Essays, forum posts, comments, and any other content submitted by contributors or members are the views and statements of their individual authors, not of DeSoto Consulting LLC. We do not review content before it is posted (beyond the automated and moderator review described elsewhere in these Terms), we do not endorse it, and we are not responsible for its accuracy or for any harm arising from it. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to remove any content that violates these Terms or our House Rules.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeSoto Consulting LLC and its officers, contributors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, including but not limited to the Fellowship Directory (see above), even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Site will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, for any violation of these Terms or the House Rules, or at our discretion. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and, for material changes, we’ll make a reasonable effort to let members know. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
