Lamdeni

Lamdeni is "teach me," and it runs through Psalm 119 like a refrain: teach me your statutes, teach me your judgments, teach me good discernment and knowledge. The root lamad is the same root standing behind talmid, a disciple, and behind Talmud, learning. Older lexicons connect it to the goad used in training an ox, which tells you what kind of teaching is in view.

This is not a request for information. The psalmist has the scroll in front of him. He can read. What he is asking for is formation, to be trained into the thing he already knows and still cannot live.

That is why the word matters for the whole psalm. A man who merely lacked facts would ask to be told. This man asks to be taught, over and over again, because the gap he feels is not in his understanding. It is in him.
